The “double chin” and jowls is another very common area to be treated with tumescent liposuction. Liposuction is usually the most effective and safest way to remove excess fat from these areas. There are virtually no scars from this procedure because of the micro-incisions, and no sutures are ever required with tumescent liposuction. The skin on the neck/chin typically contracts well, even for those with looser skin. After liposuction in this area, many patients feel like they look like they have lost weight, even though there is no weight loss achieved. After liposuction of the neck/chin and jowls, a compression band is worn for 24-48 hours. Compression is not needed after this period.
