Neurotoxins

Neurotoxins, also know as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are injectable prescription solutions that temporarily block nerve receptors in the muscle, preventing lines and wrinkles from forming. After injection, you will have temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), forehead, and crow’s feet.

Neurotoxins typically last 3-4 months before treatment is needed again.

Neurotoxins are best at preventing lines and wrinkles. Lines and wrinkles that are present at rest (while you are not frowning or squinting) will not completely be removed with neurotoxins.

What is the difference between Neurotoxins and Dermal Fillers?

Neurotoxins are injected to help smooth the appearance of wrinkles and are generally used to treat the upper face in areas such as frown lines, forehead, and crow’s feet. The results from neurotoxin injections last between 3-4 months and then need to be repeated.

Dermal fillers can help restore lost volume and even stimulate collagen production by being injected beneath the surface of the skin. Fillers can help correct facial wrinkles and folds in your mid and lower face, as well as treat fine lines. The results from fillers are instant and typically last 6-24 months depending on the area that is treated.

Areas that are commonly treated with fillers are lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, under eye hallows (tear troughs), and hands.
